Holy shit…Was that a REQUEST?!!

So, Anaxinne asked me to do a review.  Now, I’ll be honest here…I’m not sure if there are 2 different shows called The Big Bang Theory out there, so I’ll go with the one I thought I was supposed to talk about. I started watching one that’s supposed to be a sitcom, it certainly has a laughtrack to it…but it isn’t funny. Hey, nerdy people are funny because World of Warcraft and Star Trek and probably Star Wars…Yeah. Sorry, I didn’t see the humor. Not because I like some nerdy, geeky shit. No. Because I like…HUMOR. Maybe I didn’t watch enough of it, but honestly, I didn’t want to after a while. John Galecki…yeah, I remember him from when I was a kid…Roseanne. You wanna talk about funny, THAT was funny. Galecki is funny, and he CAN be funny, but this…THIS? No, not funny. I’m sorry, babydoll, but I’m not impressed by this show. You wanna see Galecki being Galecki AND funny? Suicide Kings. Watch THAT. I’m not saying all of this because of the actors, I’m saying it because of the material. Meh…

Holy shit…Was that a REQUEST?!!

Wow…I was asked by Heidi to say a few words about The Walking Dead. Somebody actually asked for my opinion! Fear not, Heidi, I’ll give you my impression of it, with gusto 😀

So, I’ll be honest right off the bat here…I haven’t seen that much of The Walking Dead. I spent one afternoon watching a marathon of it on tv, but that was already in like the 3rd or 4th season, so I haven’t seen it from the start. See, I’ve never been a fan of zombies. The slow, Romero-style zombies never seemed like that much of a threat to me. I’ve never found them to be particularly terrifying when you can just power walk away from them without getting bitten. Still, I’ll give you gentle snowflakes my feelings on what I saw. First off: great production value on the series. The makeup looks pretty damn good for a tv show. I know that at this point though the show has spawned a comic book, toys, board games, cooking utensils…uhh…hats? I dunno, probably all sorts of shit. Still, great visuals for such a humble beginning. That being said…I’m a little confused about the way they actually manage the show and its premise. See, as I said, I only started watching it from like season 3 or 4, so I’m not really up to speed on how things started out in the beginning. I’m pretty sure though that they musta changed their format at some point, because from where I started on it, they were killing at least 1 main character per episode. Never seen that approach before.

How do you get invested in a character when they’re just gonna die 2 or 3 episodes from now? I don’t really think you can. I’ll give it that it’s a unique way of doing things. However, unique doesn’t always mean “good”. Still, kudos for throwing me for a loop, AMC. You’re a crafty one. On the other hand, one thing that I really do like and honestly do think is pretty brilliant is the fact that in that world, zombies aren’t really the problem. By far the biggest threat to all the heroes on the show is other people. The Governor *shakes fists at the sky* Evil bastard. Or…is he? I’m not really sure. I watched him kill a ton of people, including one of his old friends, so I’m gonna put him in the “Evil” pile, but at the same time, he seems to be doing it because he believes he has no choice. So, is he doing what he’s doing because deep down he’s the good guy? My brain hurts a little right now.

So, is this show worth watching? Of course it is. Why would you ask that? The actors are great, the story is well written, the visuals are A-movie quality…What the hell else do you need? Oh yeah, and Laurie Holden is hot as hell. I think her character is dead now. Probably, most of the cast is dead. Still, she’s a hot little pistol. *Mrow*

So, I just saw this movie…

A Million Ways to Die in the West. I’m really not a fan of Family Guy, which is what Seth MacFarlane is known for. I know, I know…I’m sure 90% of the population stills loves that shit. I never have. Not once did I ever really find the show funny. This movie on the other hand, it had some pretty funny shit in it. Also…some pretty strange cameos, but I’ll get to those later. One thing that stuck out to me right from the get-go was the dialogue. Everyone in the film speaks like we do normally today, but of course it’s supposed to be in around 1880 or such. At first that was annoying to me. After a while though, I stopped focusing on that, and what was really going on, and it didn’t bother me anymore. I’m not gonna spoil the movie for anyone who didn’t see it, so I won’t go over the plot.

There are a LOT of dick/fart/shit jokes in this movie. I mean, a lot. If you don’t have the stomach for that kind of humor, you won’t like this movie. There is a lot of blood and gore in this movie as well. Again, if you’re squeamish to that kind of thing, you should probably move on. Still, if you can handle all that, you might wanna get this movie. There’s a ton of funny shit here, and MacFarlane and Charlize Theron are loveable as hell. Then there’s Giovanni Ribisi and Sarah Silverman, MacFarlane’s best friends who are hopelessly in love. One slight spoiler: Her job isn’t what you’d want it to be if you were in a relationship with her. Amanda Seyfried stars as MacFarlane’s girlfriend who leaves him at the start of the film for another man. Guess who…it’s Neil Patrick Harris 😀 He plays a…well, he’s just a dickbag in the movie. Not an evil guy, just a real douche. I believe Theron even refers to him as that in the film. I laughed. Liam Neeson rounds out the cast as a  tough as nails, gun toting outlaw because he’s Liam Neeson. What did you expect?

Cameos time. There’s a handful of actors that just pop up in the movie, and if you don’t really look, you might miss a couple of them. Wes Studi shows up near the end, playing COCHISE no less…AWESOME. Jamie Fox is in there right at the credits, reprising his role as Django. Christopher Lloyd is on screen for about 20 seconds as Doc Brown, and Bill Maher does a little standup routine for the crowd at a town dance. Those are the obvious ones you’ll see and say “Hey, I know who that is”. There’s at least 2 others though. Ryan Reynolds gets shot by the bad guy (Neeson) and he never even gets to say a word. The last one I saw, I had to go back into the scene selection to make sure I read the credits right. In a scene where MacFarlane and Theron are at a fair, Theron bets Harris she can out shoot him. She does, wins a bet (a whole $1) and Harris makes a snide little joke, to which the whole crowd laughs. MacFarlane then asks a “random” guy in the crowd why it was funny. Random guy answers that he only laughed because the guy next to him did. Wait, who was random guy? Ewan-fucking-McGregor. WOW.

Check out the movie. I wouldn’t ever endorse watching Family Guy, but I’d say this one is worth seeing.
